Lester Taggert

Today we lost a loving husband, proud father, playful grandpa and best friend to many. Alan was born in Dowagiac, Michigan, where he graduated from high school in 1972. Alan retired from Franklin & Son but continued to work at his beloved Hampshire Country Club.

He coached many of Niles young men at Howard Township Little League and Niles Rocket Football.

He was known by his friends to be an avid outdoorsman, loving golf, fishing and deer hunting. He was a diehard Detroit Lions fan. He considered his greatest accomplishment the raising of his children. You would see him in the stands for all their games and activities, always ready to listen and love them.

Those he has left to remember him, his wife Amelia Lynn Taggart; his children Travis Taggart, Randi Taggart, Tyler Taggart, Braxton Taggart, Cody Taggart and Dustin Taggart; grandchildren Landen, Lexi, Lukas, Kaden and MeKenna Taggart; a special nephew Alexander Kolden; his siblings David (Donna) Taggart, Patti Kolden, Judith (Scott) Kurzhal, Cheryl Merwin, Bruce Taggart and Sandra (Mike) Reid; many nieces and nephews; his close buddies Steve Pinkowski, Bud Saetry and Gary Corak, along with many friends and coworkers.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Pat Taggart.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, July 31, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Clark Chapel and Cremation Services, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, MI, where A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2014. He will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, MI. There will be a fellowship gathering after the graveside service at The Hampshire Country Club, Pokagon Highway, Dowagiac, Michigan.

Memorials may be made to the Dowagiac or Niles Rocket Football Programs. Please take the opportunity to sign his guestbook and share a memory or a condolence for him at www.clarkch.com.
