Georgia J. Murphy Burke, 84, passed away on Thursday May 8, 2014, at the Sanctuary at Holy Cross.

Georgia was born on Jan. 16, 1930, in Dowagiac, to Leroy G. Murphy and Lina Catherine Williams Murphy.

Georgia married Robert Lee Burke in 1973 in Decatur, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Margaret and Mary; two brothers, Robert and Oliver (“Bud”); her husband Robert and son George (“Skip”) Edgell.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathie Radlein of Niles; son, Craig (Sam) Edgell of Mishawka, Indiana and daughter-in-law Carol [Skip] Edgell of South Bend; sister, Thelma [Tootie] Zoller of Decatur, Michigan; grandchildren, Kim (Mike) Maggio, Kelly (Travis Southard) Gleason, Mike (Karen) Edgell, Kerry Gleason, Matt (Michelle Newman) Edgell; great-grandchildren, Lyndsie Basham, Tyler Basham, Austin Pierce Gleason, Jordan Edgell, Megan Edgell, Alexa Gleason and Alaina Southard; and great great-grandson Easton Basham.

Georgia was a fun-loving, hard-working wife, mother and homemaker. She loved the outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing, hunting, sitting by a fire, her flowers and garden, playing cards and cooking for everyone. Georgia and Bob spent many happy years vacationing in Baldwin, Michigan, where they built a log cabin from the ground up with family and friends.

A memorial service was held at Bubb Funeral Chapel, Sunday, May 18, 2014, located at 3910 Main Street, Mishawaka, IN. Visitation began at 1:30 p.m., followed by the Memorial service at 2:30. A private burial will be held at a later date in Caldwell Cemetery in Eau Claire, Michigan.
