Beatrice C. Jenkins-Giles

Born in Jones County (Laurel), Miss. in 1923, Beatrice and her parents, Elijah and Julia Jenkins, moved to Chicago, Ill. when she was six years old.

Beatrice was educated in the Chicago Board of Education System. She attended Willard Elementary, DuSable High School and Jones Commercial Business College.

In her teen years, Beatrice attended and praised God in song at Zion Temple Baptist Church, where she was later baptized.

Later in life, she met and married the love of her life, Fred

Giles and shared a joyful and active life in Dowagiac.

Beatrice is preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Julia Jenkins; brothers, Elijah Jenkins, Jr., Amos Jenkins; sisters, Julia Lucas, Mildred Stansberry, Sylvia Jenkins, Rose Showers, and great granddaughter Arianna Garza.

She has left to morn her memory, her sister Consuelo Snell of Moreno Valley, CA., her daughter Evangelist Joselle; six grandchildren, Joseph Taylor, Keturah Taylor, Khalif Muhammad, Eliyah Muhammad [Cherie], John Muhammad and Gabrielle Jones.
