Jack J. Gronner, 86, of Waynseville, NC

Jack J. Gronner, age 86, of Waynseville, NC passed away on November 30, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born in Chicago, Ill. on March 16, 1927, to the late Rudolph and Margaret Justus Gronner. He enjoyed being with his family and telling a great story with a sense of humor. He also enjoyed playing games, golfing, fishing and reading. Jack served in the US Army during World War II and the occupation of Germany after the war.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Gwen Foster.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Alice Joyce (Jo) Gronner; two daughters, Jacque Morgan (Thom) and Joni Johnson; one son, John Gronner (Dawn); one brother, Gil Amspaugh (DeEtte); one sister, Millie Hency (Dale); six grandchildren, Aimee Akbar (Farzad), Jennifer Smith, Allison Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Amanda Gronner and Breanna Gronner; five great-grandchildren, Aized, Aiden, Ariel, Kari, and Talya; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating Jack’s life will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Patrick Womack officiating.
