Morris William Mead, 88

Morris William Mead was born May 21, 1925 in Cass County, the son of Raymond D. and Dolly Pearl (Edmonds) Mead. He was united in marriage to Margaret “Peggy” Frost on Aug. 18, 1946 in Niles, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII earning the Asiatic-Pacific Medal with three stars, American Area Medal, Victory Medal and Philippine Liberation Medal with two stars.

Morris was a 40 plus year member of the Niles American Legion Post 26 and was an over 50 years member of the Local Union 150 International Operating Engineers.

His surviving family includes his sons Roy A. Mead of Atlanta, GA and Terry (Cindy) Mead of Niles, MI, three grandsons Ethan, Tyler and Timothy Mead all of Niles, and one sister Helen Head of Dowagiac, MI.

Morris passed away Monday Nov. 11, 2013 at the Timbers of Cass County.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister Viola Shugars, and four brothers Victor, Donald, Lyle and Earl Mead.

His family will gather with friends on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, MI.
