Joyce Pammel Augsburger, age 93, of Berrien Springs, died at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph on August 25, 2013, after a heart attack three days before.

Born July 3, 1920 in Niles, MI, to Gustave Pammel and Mary Lickfelt Pammel, she graduated from Niles High School (1938) and the University of Michigan (BS Nursing, 1941). In 1947 she married Daniel Augsburger, teaching fellow at the University of Michigan and fellow member of the Ann Arbor Seventh-day Adventist Church. Most of her life she lived in Berrien Springs, where she raised her family and worked as a nurse in various care settings. The family frequently traveled to Europe to visit relatives and spent a year in Strasbourg, France, where her husband studied church history.

Survivors include children–Lydie (Mark) Regazzi of Berrien Springs, Michel (Shirley) Augsburger of Windsor, CA and Dan (Rose) Augsburger of Berrien Springs; six grandchildren– Tricia (Alvin) Jornada, Stephanie (Earl) Pasamonte, Marla (Ryan) Melnick, Mark Regazzi Jr., Alisa (Heath) Wardrup, Leslie (Robert) Mayer; and 10 great-grand children–Avery, Caedon, Dylan, Madison, Penelope, Andrew, Benjamin, Adeline, Parker, Tobey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Aldyth, and her husband Daniel.

A memorial service is scheduled for October 12 at 4 PM at the Castelbuono Chapel of Pioneer Memorial Church on the Campus of Andrews University, Berrien Springs.
