County board needs more time to debate

To the editor:

Thank you for your editorial in the June 27 edition regarding setting meeting times for the Cass County Board of Commissioners to hold public meetings to conduct business.

They all seem reluctant to spend much time on debating matters that are of great importance to the voters of Cass County.

They are paid a salary and can request mileage reimbursement.

Out of the seven commissioners, two work, two are self-employed and three are retired.

They received a $3,000 raise when the membership was decreased from 15 to seven.

Berrien County commissioners meet weekly.

Cass County Commissioners object to meeting more than once a month!

It is hard for me to understand why they ran for office after reading the verbatim quotes in the editorial.

If they are not interested in spending time to do the work involved in running the county, they should resign.
