Joseph M. Gould, 95

Born: Nov. 20, 1917

Died: June 24, 2013

Joseph was born and raised in Chicago. On Sept. 16, 1939, he was united in marriage to LaDema Stelmasiak at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church in Dowagiac.

Joe is survived by: his wife LaDema; granddaughters, Lori Schur of Mishawaka, Ind., and Julie (Kerry) Smith of Osceola, Ind.; a son-in-law, Lenard Schur of Niles; a sister, Mildred Loebach of St. Joseph; a brother, E.J. (Earl) Gould of Lagrange, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce (Gould) Schur.

Joe and LaDema owned Gould’s Department Store in Cassopolis.

Joe proudly served his country as a Seabee with the Navy during World War II.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 421 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis.

There will be time for a luncheon and fellowship immediately following the Mass. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church.
