Gerald Elton McCoy, 83

Born: Dec. 21, 1929

Died: April 21, 2013

Gerald’s life began on Dec. 21, 1929, in Buchanan, the son of Richard and Helen (Wallace) McCoy.  He was a 1949 graduate of Dowagiac Central High School. 

Gerald served his country in the U.S. Army during Korea.  He lived on the family farm established in 1863 for most of his life.  Gerald was a lifetime member of the Volunteer Fire Department in Pokagon. 

He loved his neighbors and loved helping them with anything they needed. 

Gerald had a passion for gun collecting and was a gunsmith. 

His family includes: his niece, Vivian (Bill) Mathews of Niles; nephews, Danny McCoy of Florida, Kenneth McCoy of Dowagiac and David McCoy of Dowagiac. 

Gerald passed away on Sunday, April 21, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. 

His family will gather with friends on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel, where his funeral service will be held at 3 p.m.  He will be laid to rest in Dewey Cemetery.  Please sign his guestbook and leave a memory of Gerald at www.yazel-clark.com.
