W.F. ‘Dub’ Allen, 83

W.F. Allen, 83, of West Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Niles, died April 6, 2013, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla.

He was born the son of sharecroppers in Dyer, Tenn., and moved to Niles at age 21, where he worked in a crate factory.

He moved to West Melbourne, Fla., in 1960 and worked for Coca-Cola and for Pepsi. He retired as an executive from Dulin Brokerage Co. Allen was an avid hunter and fishermen with property at Lake Marion, Fla., and was a member of the Lower Pee Dee Hunting Club of Latta, S.C.

Allen is survived by his sons, Tim Allen and his wife, Sandy, of Holopaw, Fla., and Derek Nissen and his wife, Darianne, of Palm Bay, Fla.; a daughter,
Patsy Allen, of Lake City, Fla.; two grandchildren, Zachary Allen West, of Melbourne, and Marissa Allen, of Lake Alfred, Fla.; a sister, Dorothy Pitcher, of Niles; a brother, Virgil Allen of Atlanta; and a favorite niece, Tammy Miller, of Niles.

Allen was preceded by his wife of 43 years, Peggy Allen, and two brothers, Bobby Allen and Johnny Allen.

Services were April 10 at Island Cremations of Merritt Island, Fla. Burial was at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Fla.
