Mary A. Danley, 81, of South 13th Street in Niles, died at 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at her home following a brief illness.

She was born on March 2, 1931, in Paris, Ill., to John and Ruth (Bosstick) Griffin.

She graduated from Hyde Park High School in Chicago, Ill., and has lived in Niles since 1952. She was employed for 31 years at the former Uniroyal plant and was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union Local #65 in Mishawaka, Ind. She retired in 1982.

Mary was a member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church in Niles, and had been attending Hope United Methodist Church in Edwardsburg.

She was also a member of the Edwardsburg Chapter #476, Order of the Eastern Star.

In retirement, she and her husband kept a winter residence in Okeechobee, Fla., and were members of the Restless Rover Camping Club.

On Dec. 15, 1951, in Niles she married Almon E. “Ed” Danley with whom she celebrated the 61st anniversary of their wedding Saturday.

Surviving family includes her husband, Ed, and their sons, James E. (and Nancy) Danley, of Lake Worth, Fla., and Tim A. (and Ronda) Danley, of Niles; grandchildren, James (and Melissa Garcia) Danley and Tim (and Jamie) Danley; great-grandchild, Jordan; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph D. Danley and Ronald Wise; and by her siblings, Joseph Griffin and Jean Runyan.

The funeral service for Mary A. Danley was at noon Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Cathi Huvaere of Wesley United Methodist Church in Niles officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, Ind.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
