Dorothy Spadafore

Being of Italian heritage, Dorothy and her husband, Joe, had taken their car and traveled to Italy to visit family and drive around the countryside. Dorothy and Joe owned a retail store in downtown Dowagiac for several years.

She really enjoyed going shopping. Joe would take her to Chicago so she could shop while he was at the library. Dorothy was very devoted to her church, as she hardly ever missed Mass. She also liked to go out to eat with her friends and play bingo with her friends at Forest Glen Assisted Living.

Dorothy was like a mother to her many nieces, nephews, cousins and many more.

Her loving family includes her niece, Lillian Schneider; great niece, Sue Peterson; great nephew, John Schneider; and many great-great nieces, nephews and cousins. She really enjoyed the time with her cousins, Jane Wright, Mary “Butchie” Myers and also her dear friends Pat Hallowell and Barb Lucas. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Mary Fabiano, Lena Belsito and Jane Belsito.

Her family will gather with friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel.

A Rosary will be prayed for Dorothy at 7:30 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Kevin Covert celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Dowagiac.
