Mark Asmus, 55, of South Bend, Ind., and formerly of Niles, died Friday, Nov.  16, 2012, at his home unexpectedly, but of natural causes.

He was born on April 24, 1957, in Dowagiac, to Leon G. and Carolyn J. (Sellers) Asmus.

He graduated from Niles High School in 1975 and attended Southwestern Michigan College. He was employed at Burns Electric Service.

Mark enjoyed camping, and spending time “up north” at the cottage near Bitely.

He was also an automobile enthusiast, and proud of his car.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Lee Asmus, in 2006. Surviving family includes his parents, Carolyn and Leon Asmus, of Niles; brothers, Kevin (and Mellissa) Asmus, of Niles, and Clifford (and Barbara) Asmus of Minneapolis, Minn.; and many nephews and a niece.

The family of Mark Asmus will gather privately to share memories of Mark at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with Pastor Jan Van Lear assisting. Contributions in memory of Mark may be made to any organization of the donor’s choice.
