Betty Burns Hall, 86, died on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, due to complications during surgery.  She was born and raised in Galien, Mich., but has been a long time resident of Buchanan. Betty and Wendell E. Hall of Buchanan were married for 59 years before his passing in April 2010. Survivors include her daughters Dee Dee Hall Flores (Fernando) of Tomball, Tex., and Wende Hall Lynn (Robert) of Norcross, Ga.  Betty will be terribly missed by her four granddaughters, Tyler Svetich of Dallas, Tex., Mary Alexandra Svetich of Norcross Ga., and Francesca and Danielle Flores of Tomball, Tex.  Also, surviving is her sister, Shirley Burns Deming of Wildwood, Fla.

Betty’s passions were her daughters, granddaughters and music. She was an accomplished pianist and had taught at the former Northern Indiana Conservatory of Music in South Bend, Ind., and at her home in Buchanan. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, listening to her large collection of classical CDs, family gatherings, travel and playing dominoes with her granddaughters. She also collected vintage costume jewelry and loved her ‘bling’. She belonged to the “Vintage Fashion and Costume Jewelry Club” and had attended several of their international conventions. Betty was well versed on conservative ideals and had formerly been active in the Republican Party.

Betty enjoyed the ‘Girls’ in her Bridge Club and in her “Girls Night Out” group.  She was an optimist and had a zest for life and learning.

Mom was our witty, conservative, independent Matriarch.  Always our Port in the Storm, our mentor, our cheerleader and our rock.

We will miss you dearly.
