Michael Dalton Alsup, 63, of Niles, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at his home unexpectedly but of natural causes.

He was born on May 25, 1949, in Benton Harbor, to Dalton and Evelyn J. (Davis) Alsup. As a child, he was a poster-child for the March of Dimes. He attended Brandywine Community Schools, and has lived in the Niles area all of his life.

Mike was a fan of the late Elvis Presley, and continued to enjoy his music. He also enjoyed fishing in the St. Joseph River and playing pool. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2094 in Niles.

He was preceded in death by two children, Barbara Jean Alsup and Robert Dalton Alsup; by his parents; and two sisters, Carol Sue Daren and Linda Jean Lovell.

Surviving family includes his sister Gail Harrison, of Mishawaka, Ind.; and nieces and nephews, Sonja, Tina, Harley, Shawn, Richard, Deanna, Dale, Sheree and

Kenny.

Services for Michael Alsup will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Michael Sirovica, of the New Apostolic Church of Niles, officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday.
