Albert Walter Guthrie, 85, promenaded home on Sept, 2, 2012.

Al was born in Booth, W.Va., on March 4, 1927, to his parents, James and Marie
Guthrie. He was married 65 years to his soulmate, Betty Cuthbert Guthrie. Their four children (and spouses) are Geraldine (Al Simmons), Nancy (James Danley), Richard (Sheri Guthrie) and Bob (Jeanie Guthrie). He also was a brother to three sisters and two brothers. Al had nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and 14 nieces and nephews.

Al lived a proud life in Niles working as a butcher at Tony’s market and serving in World War II. His true passion was as a square dance caller, where he served as president, and he was a member to multiple caller associations. He was honored with many awards and friends in
numerous associations. He was a patriot and a member of the VFW and American Legion prior to and after moving to Lake Worth, Fla.
In 1980. amidst his relations, he was also a friend and teacher to so many that loved and admired him.
He is already missed, and shall be “until we meet again.”
A memorial service and reception will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 2:30 p.m. at the West Side Baptist Church, 3711 Old Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL 33463 (561-737-9940).
