Shireen Cline, owner of KoZmo Events, hopes the first ever Art & Music in the Vineyard event becomes a southwestern Michigan tradition.

Cline is bringing in approximately 40 artists to the show, which is scheduled to run from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 4-5 at the Round Barn Winery’s Baroda tasting room and estate, 10983 Hills Rd., Baroda.

Cline, who lives in White Pigeon, said the art show would feature traditional, contemporary and modern art.

She said she only invited talented artists who are passionate, positive and friendly.

“They want to share with the public their techniques and the story behind what they are doing and the story behind their work,” Cline said. “There should be a nice flow of energy through the place.”

People can expect to find a variety of paintings, pottery, metal sculptures, fiber art, stained glass, blown glass, jewelry, hand-weaved baskets, wood turned bowls, handcrafted furniture, carved gourds, and hand-made paper.

“Whether you’re an art collector or homeowner seeking something unique for your home, you will be sure to find something among the 40 artists that will fit your personal taste in art,” Cline said.

In addition, Cline said several artists would be doing demonstrations throughout each day. Dave Wilkinson, a stone carver out of Benton Harbor, will be chipping away on a new work of art.

“What’s great about Dave is he allows young children and people to participate and he gets them learning how to use the tools and chip,” Cline said. “He’s demonstrating his work while allowing the public to try his art, his passion of stone carving.”

Art & Music in the Vineyard will also feature live music provided by the Round Barn Winery.

Venetia Skema is scheduled to play at 1 p.m. Saturday, while Jester is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, Little Frank & The Premiers will play at 1 p.m., followed by the Chester Brown Band at 4:30 p.m.

Cline said Art & Music in the Vineyard would be different than bigger art shows.

“Smaller is more intimate and you will be able to make up your mind faster when shopping for art,” she said. “In addition, you will find only one or two artists per medium. No two artists have even a slight similarity.”

Cline got the idea for the show while visiting the Round Barn Winery during the Austin Healey Club British Car Field Day last year.

“It was such a beautiful facility and they have the beer, the wine and the food,” she said. “It seemed like the perfect place to have this event.”

For more than 30 years, the Round Barn Winery has been producing quality wines, spirits and microbrews in southwestern Michigan.

The Round Barn Winery is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday; from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. It can be reached by phone at 800-716-9463, online at roundbarnwinery.com
