More info needed on Keystone Pipeline

As a former publisher of a weekly newspaper, I must say that I am disappointed in the media. Why aren’t we given more information on the proposed Keystone Pipeline?

If they have no refineries in Canada, why don’t they build them, since they have oil?

I would also like to know who actually owns the oil. One of our local congressmen says the pipeline would reduce our dependence on foreign oil. I didn’t know that Canada was in the United States.

From what I hear and read, there is no shortage of oil now. The oil companies just raise their prices because they can make more money. If it was absolutely necessary to transport the oil to our refineries, why don’t they use their railroads to take it to their coast, put it on ships and send it to our refineries. Isn’t that the way it gets here from other countries?

We should also be concerned about the effect on our environment. Fred Upton, have you forgotten about the spill in the Kalamazoo River?
