Hit-and-run suspect turns self into police

The alleged driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a Niles man Sunday night turned himself in to authorities.

The Michigan State Police say the male driver of the suspect vehicle, a Pontiac Grand Prix, came into the Niles Law Enforcement Complex at around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Pedestrian Charles Edward Lintz, 51, was struck by the suspect vehicle, which was heading east on Michigan-60 near Lilac Avenue in Howard Township at approximately 9:20 p.m. Lintz died as a result of injuries sustained during the collision.

The vehicle that struck Lintz failed to stop at the scene of the crash.

The incident is under investigation and will be submitted to the Cass County prosecutor for review.
