Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital hosts its annual Women’s Health Fair on Friday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 4 in the multispecialty clinic.
The event will give women the opportunity to shop, sample food and relax with a free massage.
Local restaurants and other vendors will sell food, flowers, jewelry and more in a tented area in Farr Park.
Women can avail themselves of free health information and screenings, from blood pressure and blood sugar testing to back health and dental education to beauty tips.
“The fair offers a little something for everyone,” said Alisha Brandau, a clinical nurse leader at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital. “Combined with shopping, eating and screenings throughout the day, we’re offering four 15-minute health presentations.”
Heather  Wright of Borgess Lee Medical Group will present “Hypertension in Women” in Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital’s community room.
Wright offers this educational seminar in four 15-minute sessions at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1 and 2 p.m. The presentation provides information on diagnosis and treatment, as well as what women can do to reduce their chances of developing high blood pressure.
“As they grow older, women are actually more likely to have high blood pressure than men. Without treatment, uncontrolled hypertension can lead to other serious health concerns,  including stroke, heart and vision problems, and kidney failure,” Wright said. .
