The Niles Charter Township Park Commission will host a public meeting at 6 p.m. Friday to discuss the township’s trail plans and grant application.

The township seeks feedback from the public as it moves forward to develop 3.5 miles of trail that will become part of the 34-mile “Indiana-Michigan River Valley Trail.”

That trail will eventually connect the cities of Niles, Roseland, South Bend and Mishawaka with a paved, dedicated, pedestrian corridor.

The Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant applications are due April 2. The township board will vote on submitting the application at its March 19 meeting.
