Clifford comes to life on stage in a new family musical, “Clifford The Big Red Dog LIVE!”

A celebration of Clifford’s 50th anniversary, the event takes place at the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center Mainstage, 2755 East Napier Ave., Benton Harbor, for two shows at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Feb. 18.

In this adventure, Clifford and Emily Elizabeth journey to Birdwell Island with their friends, Cleo, T-Bone, Charley, Jetta and Mac. They will share such values as sharing, playing, fairness, respect, working together, responsibility, truthfulness, kindness, helping others, believing in self and being a good friend with laughter, songs and dancing.

Clifford is a long-time children’s favorite and celebrates his 50th anniversary in 2012. The original children’s book series created by author Norman Bridwell was first published in 1963. The animated children’s television series was nominated for an Emmy award.

Tickets are $14 and $19. Call the box office at (269) 927-1221.

Make it an afternoon from noon to 2 p.m. and meet and greet a lot of furry faces waiting for some affection thanks to local animal rescue groups. Enjoy a buffet of chicken fingers, macaroni and cheese and house-made chips. Tickets are $7.
