Firefighter Anthony “Tony” Stewart has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant in the fire division of the Dowagiac Fire Department.
Stewart has been a firefighter with the department since 2006 and works full-time with Life Care Ambulance of Cassopolis.
“Tony has been a valuable asset to the fire division,” Guy H. Evans, the deputy fire chief, said.
As a lieutenant, Stewart will now assume a role as company officer, overseeing a crew of six to seven firefighters while assisting in incident management duties, sharing in staff responsibilities and helping cover shift vacancies at the fire station.
