A graveside memorial service will be held Monday, May 2 at Adamsville Cemetery for Thomas Edward Conrad, 61, of Edwardsburg, who passed away Jan. 4, 2011. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Smith, pastor of Hope Community Church, Niles.
The service will be followed by the U.S. Army Honor Guard playing “Taps” and the folding of the flag. Thomas was a U.S. Army veteran.
All are to meet at the graveside Monday for the service.
Thomas was born May 2, 1949 in Niles and grew up on the family farm in the Edwardsburg area. He graduated from Niles High School, Western Michigan University and the University of Notre Dame. He was a member of the Notre Dame Club. He was a former professor at Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac.
He is survived by a sister, Shirley (Leo) Kirsch of Niles; and Shirley’s children, Pamela Ann Closson, Tamara Closson, Steven Closson and Becky Bookout.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Edward and Marguerite Irene (Shafer) Conrad; and a sister, Margaret Ann Conrad.
Arrangements are by Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
