Donna’s life began on June 22, 1949, in Paw Paw, daughter of Jessie B. and Mildred M. (Jackson) Pierce.

She was united in marriage to John A. Chappel on Oct. 3, 1965, in Hartford.

Her loving family includes: her children, John West of Dowagiac, David W. Smith of Dowagiac, Lisa A. Smith of Michigan and Richa Kay Kumrow of Dowagiac; nine grandchildren; sisters, Judy Beebe, Linda Abrams, Carol Pierce and Theresa Clary.
Donna, 61, of Dowagiac, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, at Tendercare of Kalamazoo.

She is preceded in death by: her parents; a sister, Cindy Mann; and a brother, Mike Pierce.

Her family will gather with friends on Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel, where her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m.

She will be laid to rest in South Wayne Cemetery.
