Janet H. Wells, 97, of Dean’s Hill Road, Berrien Center, died at 9:05 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at Lakeland Specialty Hospital, Berrien Center, following an extended illness.

She was born Oct. 20, 1913 in Toledo, Ohio to George William Pratt and Helen B. (Happy) Pratt. She moved from Toledo to Niles in 1952.

Janet retired from Frankie’s Restaurant in Niles. She was an expert in potted violets. She enjoyed embroidery and bingo.

She married Quinton F. Wells on May 6, 1939 in Angola, Ind. He died April 13, 1967.

She is survived by her son, Gary T. Wells of Niles; daughter, Helen Garcia of Holyoke, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William Pratt, and sister, Marian Roebeck.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2010 at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with Pastor David Szymczak of First Church of Christ-Christian officiating.

Burial will be held at Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania, Ohio.

Friends may call beginning at noon Friday at the funeral home.
