Morris Allen Kelso, 82, of Dowagiac, died at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Riverview Manor in Three Rivers.

He was born Oct. 8, 1928, in Dowagiac to Charles A. and Mildred E. (Bailey) Kelso.

On Aug. 29, 1948, in Dowagiac, he married Jewell D. Gravit.

She survives, along with: one daughter, Mary Ann (Philip) Kidman of Dowagiac; two sons, Roger D. (Barbara) Kelso of Port Angeles, Wash., and Charles A. (Tori) Kelso of Collierville, Tenn.

Also surviving are: eight grandchildren, Kimberly (Randy) Robison of Dowagiac, Kevin Kidman of Florida, Kristina (Jim) Fullard of Georgia, Nicholas and Eric Kelso of Texas, Jacob Kelso of Washington, Tricia Kelso of Florida and Fred Kelso of Florida; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elizabeth “Ann” Smith of Tempe, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gregory, and by one sister, Mary Jane Knoll.

Morris graduated in 1946 from Dowagiac Central High School.

In his younger years he enjoyed bowling, fishing and deer hunting.

He retired in 1984 from Conrail as a locomotive engineer after 33 years of service. He was a life member of Dowagiac Elks Lodge 889.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac.

Pastor Kevin Terrell of Temple Baptist Church in Three Rivers will preside. Elkhart Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
