Blanche’s life began on Aug. 9, 1931, in Breedsville, the daughter of Clayton Cleveland, Eva Lucille (Smith) Cleveland and stepfather Stanley Walton.

She was united in marriage to Roy Gantt I on Jan. 21, 1950, in Atlanta, Ga.

Blanche was employed as a cashier at Buy-Lo Supermarket, Lou-Ann’s Supermarket and Judd Lumber.

Blanche, 79, of Dowagiac, was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

Her loving family includes: her children, Rhonda (Dale) Disterheft of Eau Claire, Roy (Jenni Rafferty) Gantt of Westland, Mike (Jodi) Gantt of Dowagiac and Joe (Sharon) Gantt of Cochran, Ga.; grandchildren, Shawn (Leslie) Disterheft of Redford Township, Erin Disterheft of Galesburg, Corey (Sara) Disterheft of Eau Claire, Stephanie (Adam) Finley of North Glenn, Colo., Joe Phillipson of Dearborn Heights, Shannon Phillipson of Westland, Dana (Jason) Horne of Westland, Jeffery, Carly, Samuel and Christopher Gantt, all of Dowagiac, Joseph Gantt II of Lawrenceville, Ga., Wesley Gantt of Cochran, Ga., Rebecca (Rodney) Martin and Ashley Spearman, all of Macon, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Holden Disterheft, Bennett Roy Disterheft, Aden Finley, Noelle Finley,  Elaina Thompson, Nick Horne, Layla Horne, Connor Martin, Rylan Martin and Cameron Spearman; sisters, Maureen Miller of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Jean Burch of South Bend, Ind.; several nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Billy Gillespie of Galesburg.

Blanche passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, in Valparaiso, Ind.

She is preceded in death by her husband Roy Gantt I in 2010 and a sister, Joyce Gulick.

Her family will gather with friends on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel, where her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. led by Pastor Justin Shepard.

She will be laid to rest in Caldwell Cemetery, Eau Claire.
