Russell Jann,  61, of Gaylord, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born Oct.12, 1948 in Niles, to Wilber and Evelyn (Schram) Jann.

On Aug. 3, 1973 he married the former Sharon Hanback.

Russ was a United States Marine Corps veteran, and had served on the Gaylord City Council from 2005-2009. He loved his family and loved being a part of the Gaylord community.

Russ is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sharon; daughters, Elizabeth (Travis) Smith, Audrey Jann; grandchildren, Lucus, Jonathan and MaryJane; sisters, Pat (Tom) Teske, Shirley Erwin, Carol (Chuck) Motry, Sandy (Dennis) Hanback, Mary Ann (Randy) Billiard, Cynthia Jann, Julie (Edward) Davis; brother, Mark Jann; mother-in-law, Betty Hanback; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilber and Evelyn; and brothers, Larry and Robert.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will take place at a later date.
