Larry N. Perrin, 72 / Dec. 11, 1937 — July 16, 2010

Larry N. Perrin, of South 13th Street in Niles and formerly of Buchanan died at 8:56 a.m. Friday July 16, 2010. He was 72.

He was born in Dovertown Ala., to parents Clarence Duel Perrin and Opal Mae (Ware) Perrin on Dec. 11, 1937.

He graduated from Cordova High School in Alabama and has lived in the Niles area since 1961.

He served in the National Guard in Alabama and retired from Buchanan Steel after more than 25 years of employment there.

He enjoyed woodworking in his home workshop, vegetable gardening, fishing in the St. Joseph River and playing cards with family and friends.

On June 23, 1959 he married Gladys “Freddie” (Lowrance) Perrin in Alabama. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2009.

Also preceding him in death are his parents, Clarence D. “Brown” and Opal M. Perrin; brothers David Duel Perrin ad Kenneth Leon Perrin and sisters Jacqueline Yvonne Hoggle and Carolyne Sue Pinegar.

Surviving family includes daughters Kellee J. (Scott Moritz) Gentry of South Bend and Etta Lynn (Scott Zimmerman) Yazell of Niles; son John P. (Dayle) Perrin of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters Wanda Jane Benson of Atlanta, Ga., Ronnee Jean Greathouse of Buchanan and Donna Kay Dockery of Niles; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday July 20, 2010 at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with Pastor Jim Wing of First Baptist Church officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a Veteran’s Flag Presentation and “Taps” concluding the funeral service on Tuesday by American Legion Post #26 of Niles.
