Niles JV golf team eighth at tourney

BATTLE CREEK – The Niles junior varsity golf team finished eighth at the Battle Creek Lakeview JV Invitational on Friday at Cedar Creek Golf Course.

The Vikings turned in their best score of the season with a 365.

Battle Creek Lakeview Black won the tournament with a 314. Lakeview Purple was second at 338 and Lakeshore third at 144.

Battle Creek Harper Creek and Coldwater rounded out the top five with scores of 459 and 354 respectively.

Matt Garland of Lakeview Black earned medalist honors with his 73.

Niles was led by Sam Clark’s 86. Dominic Wyland shot 91, Jesse Jordan 93, Aaron Carroll 95, Ryan Clutter 102 and Joshua Bell 109.

“It was a good learning experience and the kids had fun,” Niles coach Greg Gunder said.
