Roundup: Weller’s hat trick leads Dowagiac to win; Eddies blanked by Vicksburg

HARTFORD — Visiting Dowagiac got a hat trick from Maggie Weller as it defeated Hartford 8-1 in non-conference soccer Monday.

In other soccer action, Vicksburg blanked visiting Edwardsburg 8-0 in a Wolverine Conference match.

 

Dowagiac at Hartford

“We played another solid game today,” said Dowagiac Coach Joey Pasternak. “We did the little things right and moved the ball well and we finished it off with a goal something we have struggled with all year. The girls did a really good job again from front to back.”

Weller had three goals, while Johannah McDonald and Alexandra Jijon both had a pair of goals. Mia Freeman also found the back of the net for the Chieftains.

In JV action, Dowagiac blanked the Huskies 3-0.

Riley O’Konski, Lilliana Velascoe and Freeman all score for Dowagiac, which hosts Berrien Springs in a Lakeland Conference match Wednesday.

 

Edwardsburg at Vicksburg

The Bulldogs remained tied with Plainwell for the top spot in the Wolverine Conference with a 6-0 record.

The Eddies are currently tied with Niles for fifth place with 1-3-1 records.

The Edwardsburg JV also were defeated by Vicksburg. The Bulldogs topped the Eddies 6-2.

Scoring goals for Edwardsburg were Olive Walk and Savanah Egendoerfer. Nanette DuFour and Kennedy Goorhouse picked up the assists.
