Thomas M. Nelson, 42, of St. Joseph, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, as a result of an accident in St. Joseph Township.

Family services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.

Burial of the ashes will be held at Riverview Cemetery.

Dey-Florin Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in St. Joseph is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Southwest Michigan Humane Society.

Tom was born on March 16, 1968, in St. Joseph to Raymond and Barbara Nelson.

He was a machinist at several tool and die companies in the area, with the last one being Alco Tool and Die.

Tom enjoyed RC cars, four wheeling and motorcycling. He also liked going to the beach.
Tom was outgoing but quiet and genuine with other people.  He was also kind and generous and loved his dogs.

He is survived by: his mother, Barbara Nelson of St. Joseph; his sister, Kathryn (Eric) Jacobson of Stevensville; his nieces and nephews, Ashley Fulton, Eric Jacobson, Lilly Jacobson and Owen Jacobson; his aunt, Phyllis Hatfield of Wisconsin; and his uncle, Raymond Neddo of Tennessee.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Raymond A. Nelson, on Jan. 4, 2001, and his brother, Raymond P. Nelson, on March 20, 1966.
