M. Carol Everman, 72, of Bailey Avenue, Niles, died at 8:57 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph following an extended illness.

She was born March 20, 1937 in Niles to Peter Asa Taylor and Madeline Brown Taylor. She graduated from Niles High School and lived here all her life.

She provided babysitting services in her home and enjoyed arts and crafts, crocheting, flower arranging, drawing and painting. As a young lady, she sang with her sisters in the Rainbow Valley Sweethearts.

On April 18, 1953 in Edwardsburg she married Ernest E. “Ernie” Everman, who survives.

Other surviving family include a son, Bill (Sharon) Everman of Niles; a sister, Geri Snuff of Niles; grandchildren, Ryan Everman and Daryle Whalen; family friend, the Rev. Fred Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Edith Klatt, who died June 24, 2001; and a brother, Bill Taylor, who died May 18, 1992.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles with Kevin Greenlee of Niles officiating.

Burial will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles. Friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
