MARCELLUS – Marietta Shepherd, 58, of 14796 Steininger Road, Marcellus, passed away Tuesday evening, Jan.5, 2010, at her residence.

Marietta was born in Dowagiac on Nov. 4, 1951, the daugher of Gordon H. and Helen E. (Gordon) Peters.

On July 12, 2002, in Cassopolis, she married Steven A. Shepherd.

She had lived at her present residence since 2002.

Previously, she lived in Dowagiac.

She had been employed at Fab-Masters in Marcellus and at Ameriwood in Dowagiac.
Surviving besides her husband Steve are: two daughters, Judy (Shawn) Sirk and Jody (John) Causer, both of Dowagiac; four sons, Jerry (Lisa) Burnham of Berrien Springs, Marc Shepherd of Arkansas, Mike (Jen) Shepherd and John Shepherd, both of Kalamazoo; 21 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Shirley Burnham of Dowagiac; and two brothers, Les Cross and Jerry (Kelly) Cross, both of Dowagiac. One sister, Debbie, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Mater Funeral Home, Marcellus, with Pastor Thomas G. Stout, pastor of Volinia Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation will follow.

Her family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
