DECATUR – Rene G. Rangel Sr., 70, of Marcellus, passed away Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at home.

Rene was born Nov. 24, 1939, in Donna, Texas, the son of Frank and Beatrice (Gomez) Rangel.

He was employed as a semi driver for Klett Construction for 30 years.

He was a member of Teamsters AFL-CIO Local 7.

Survivors include: his wife, Julia; four daughters, Beatrice Rangel of Decatur, Norma Love of Goshen, Ind., Rose Rangel of Dowagiac and Crystal (Robert) Hodgemire of Decatur; a son, Rene Rangel Jr. of Sister Lakes; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Teresa and Lupe; and two brothers, Rudy and Ralph, all of McAllen, Texas.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Frank Rangel; and a brother, Robert.
Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at 2 p.m. at First Church of God, Decatur, with Pastor Michael Heflin and Pastor Enio Garcia officiating.

Arrangements are by Newell Funeral Home, Decatur.
