Lois’s life began on Oct. 8, 1954, in Dowagiac, the daughter of Joseph E. and Shirley L. (Schneck) Scott.

She was a 1972 graduate of Dowagiac Union High School and earned her associate degree with honors at Southwestern Michigan College.

Lois was employed as a legal secretary for many attorneys in the area.

She loved to spend time with her friends playing cards or going on casino trips.

Lois was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved her pets.

Her loving family includes: her mother, Shirley Scott of Dowagiac; her daughter, Heidi Mott of Dowagiac; her beloved Lab, Snickers; and grand dog, Sophie; her sister, Linda (Michael) Yauchstetter of Dowagiac; niece Lori(Steven) Carlisle of St. Joseph; nephews. Jeffrey ( Brittany) Yauchstetter of St. Joseph and Bradley (Kim) Yauchstetter of Dowagiac; former husband, Rene Rangel Jr. of Dowagiac; and special friends, Rosanne Solomon, Suellen Gause, Donna Minchow, Janeen Stockwell, Robin Tuka, Sherry Compton, Paulette Johnson, Vicki Grote, Mandy McCrorey and Tina Gardner.

Lois passed away on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, surrounded by her family and friends in Decatur.

She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Scott, and by her special friend, William “Billy” Maier.

Her family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel, where her funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. led by Pastor Julie Greyerbiehl.

She will be laid to rest in Indian Lake Cemetery.
