Five Broncos pick up mid-season honors

KALAMAZOO – Five Broncos earned a place on Phil Steele’s Mid-Season All-Mid-American Conference Team.

Senior running back and all-purpose runner Brandon West led the way, earning a first team nod for offense and a third team nod as a kick returner.

Five Broncos in all made the cut.

West leads Western Michigan with 534 yards rushing and ranks third in the MAC at 89.0 yards per game. He recently surpassed the 3,000-yard mark for his career. He ranks sixth nationally in all-purpose yards 184.17 per game.

Joining West on the first team offense is sophomore offensive tackle Anthony Parker.
The North Miami Beach, Fla., native has started all six games at left tackle for the Broncos in 2009.

Juan Nunez earned a spot on the second team offense, leading the Broncos with 388 yards receiving and five TDs and averages 14.4 yards per catch.

Jordan White was named to the third team and is just behind Nunez with 387 yards but leads the team with 29 catches.

Defensively. defensive tackle Cody Cielenski and linebacker Austin Pritchard share second team honors. Pritchard, who ranks fifth in the MAC in tackles per game (9.33) leads the team with 56 tackles, having a string of five-straight games with at least 10 tackles snapped against Toledo.

Cielenski leads the team with 6.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks, ranking in a tie for ninth and seventh respectively.
