Dorothy C. Zimmerman, 84, of Niles, died at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind.

A memorial service will be at noon on Friday, Sept. 25, at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.

Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.

Friends may call one hour before services on Friday at the funeral home.

She was born on July 10, 1925, in North Brunswick, N.J. to Joseph and Lottie Smetts.
She has lived here since 1947.

On June 8, 1947, in Niles, she married Billy A. Zimmerman, who died on Dec. 28, 1973.
Surviving family includes two daughters, Penny Dorogi, of South Bend, Ind. and Cathy Kluwe of Carisbad, Calif.; two grandchildren and a brother, Arthur Smetts.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Joseph Smetts.

Memorial donations may be made to Pet Refuge, Inc., Mishawaka, Ind. or Niles Senior Center.
