Dowagiac All-Star teams enjoy success

A pair of Dowagiac All-Star softball teams recently completed tournaments in Hartford and Coloma.

The 10U All-Stars finished second at the Hartford Tournament earlier this week.

Dowagiac defeated Gobles (13-0), lost to Big Rapids (9-4), defeated Bloomingdale (15-0), defeated Gobles (12-7), defeated Hartford (12-2) and Coloma (11-6) to advance to the championship game.

The all-stars were edged by Big Rapids in the title game 8-7.

Jessa Davis was awarded the 10U Division All-Tournament Player Award, which goes to the top player in each age group.

The Dowagiac 8U All-Stars took third at the Hartford Tournament last month.

In pool play, the all-stars defeated Coloma 16-9 and Harris Heat 10-6.

In bracket play, Dowagiac beat Coloma 9-4 to advance to the semifinals where it was defeated by Harris Heat.

The 8U All-Stars lost to Edwardsburg in the championship game of the Michigan District 15 Little League District Tournament held at Vicksburg Little League.

Dowagiac defeated Mattawan Blue 6-5 and West Portage Orange 7-0 to reach the championship game.

Edwardsburg defeated the all-stars 13-3 Wednesday night.
