The Four Flags Area Apple Festival’s annual Youth Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Ring Lardner Middle School and at the Apple Festival grounds located at the corner of Lake and 17th streets in Niles.

Youth Day is sponsored by Greater Niles Community Federal Credit Union and free to all who attend. McDonald’s restaurant of Niles and the Niles Service League will sponsor games at Youth Day.

The day starts with a bicycle and tricycle race at 9 a.m. at Ring Lardner Middle School. Registration for the race begins at 8:30 a.m.

Following that, a random drawing to determine the Apple Festival prince and princess will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Apple Festival grounds.

Line up for the youth parade starts at 12:30 p.m. Following the parade, lunch will be served, which includes hot dogs, drinks, cotton candy and popcorn.

The festival typically gives out more than 1,100 hot dogs on Youth Day.

Other family-friendly activities include a bounce house, magic show and rope bridge.
