Dowagiac wrestlers qualify eight for state finals

The Dowagiac Wrestling Club will be sending eight wrestlers to the MYWAY state finals, March 31 through April 2.

Dowagiac had 10 wrestlers place in the top six, while eight qualified for the finals at the Michigan Youth Wrestling Association Southwest Regional championships hosted at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo Saturday.

Deny White and Taven Linvingston were the champions for the Dowagiac Wrestling Club. White and Livingston attend Dowagiac Middle School.

Finishing second were Roman Paredes, Rowan Bradford, Aaron Lucio, Gavin Schoff and Kaiden Rieth.

Paredes attends Sister Lakes Elementary, while Bradford attends Kincheloe Elementary.

Schoff and Rieth go to Brandywine Elementary.

Austin Hart and Cody White finished fifth and sixth respectively for Dowagiac.

Dowagiac Middle School student Gabbi Munson sang the national anthem Saturday.
