Church plans fun summer

As the temperatures heat up, Cassopolis’ Word of Life Family Worship Center, 408 E. Harding St., prepares for a host of summer activities that local families can enjoy.
Beginning Monday, June 25, the church will welcome children, preschool through sixth grade ages, and adults to their vacation Bible school. The theme, “Amazing Desert Journey,” will focus on elements such as promises, provisions, strength and hope. The school will run through June 25, 26, 27 and 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
“We have pre-registration available but we are expecting several kids to come and register on those nights,” Sally Cooper, Pastor Ron Cooper’s wife, said.
The vacation Bible school is free to the community and those interested. Each night will feature a story time, crafts and snacks for the children. Adults can enjoy classes taught by Ron while teens can help with children’s activities.
“We’re hoping overall to reach about 100 kids in the area,” Cooper said.
Each night, the boys and girls will be pitted against one another in a penny drive, which will be used as a fundraiser for missions. The final night of the school, Friday, will be dedicated to a block party for the community.
“We’ll have a bouncy house, dunk tanks some dance and food,” Cooper said.
Though the school will end, Word of Life will then begin their revival services Sunday, July 8. The Coopers will welcome their nephew, Lamar Cooper, to lead the week-long services.
“He followed his ministry to Ohio, but he will be here for our revival,” Cooper said. “He grew up here in Cassopolis and graduated from Cassopolis schools.”
Lamar also participates in missionary work in Kenya. According to Cooper, he will take another trip this August.
Cooper said she is most looking forward to the events coming up because they offer the church a chance to grow in the community.
“We’ve started to see some increase in our numbers and spiritual growth, also,” Cooper said. “We hope to reach out and welcome more community members.”
Word of Life’s vacation Bible school begins on June 25 and will last through the 29th. Monday through Thursday times are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday’s evening’s block party will begin at 5:30 and last until 8:30 p.m. The church’s revival services begin 11 a.m. July 8, with weekday services beginning at 7 p.m. For more information about the vacation Bible school or revival, call the church at (269) 445-2005.
