CASSOPOLIS — Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood reports his office responded to a farm accident in the 51000 block of Gards Prairie Road, Volinia Township, at 4:30 p.m. June 17.

Jay Hemenway, 83, of Decatur, was driving his tractor when he lost control, causing it to overturn.

Mr. Hemenway was trapped beneath the tractor.

He had to be airlifted by Air Care and taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment of his injuries.

Air Care, Pride Care ambulance and Wayne Township Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
