Niles cross country teams finish fifth at Viking Stampede

St. Joseph and Bridgman captured the girls and boys team championships at the Niles Stampede at the Dowagiac Middle School Friday.

Host Niles finished fifth in both races, while Dowagiac was ninth in the girls race and eighth in the boys race.

Plainwell’s May Veen captured the individual girls championship with a time of 20:26.

Niles’ Taylor Altergott was 11th overall with a time of 23:08.

Dowagiac’s top finisher was Laura Lynn-Lee, who was 91st with a time of 35:49.

Michigan City’s Bryon Berg was the boys individual winner with a time of 16:42.

Niles’ Devin Tomlinson was 11th with a time of 18:16.

Dowagiac’s top runner was DeYonte Sullivan, who was 26th with a time of 19:32.
