Robert Allyn Deer, 59, of Marcellus, died Sunday, Aug.11, 2013 in his residence.

Bob was born Aug. 30, 1953 in La Porte, Ind. to Richard and Barbara (Wilson) Deer. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives. He married Jennifer Johnson Dec. 23, 1975 in South Bend, Ind. She survives.

Bob was first and foremost a farmer. He raised Simmental cattle, which was the only kind to have, as far as he was concerned. He was a member of the Carpenters’ Union of South Bend for 30 years in addition to farming. No matter what he did, it reflected his passion for living and working on his farm.

Bob will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Johnson) Deer of Marcellus; one daughter, Erica (Andy) Chadwick of Traverse City; one son, Adam (Monica) Deer of Raleigh, N. C.; one granddaughter; four grandsons; his mother, Barbara Deer of New Carlisle, Ind.; one sister, Bonnie (Tim) Calhoon of Chico, California; and one brother, Rick (Kathy) Deer of Greencastle, Ind.

Family and friends gathered in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals for a service officiated by Pastor Mike Owen.
