Fashion fundraiser benefits Polly’s Place

Niles residents glammed up Sunday for one of several fundraisers organized this year for faith-based domestic violence

The first Polly’s Place Fashion Show and Silent auction was has held at the Bell Building on North Third Street Sunday afternoon. More than a dozen local women and children modeled fashions from Niles Styles and Second Time Around. St. Mary’s School Director Sharon Gregorski emceed the event, which featured a silent auction, door prizes and refreshments. The fundraising goal for the fashion show was $2,000 to $3,000.
Leftover items from the silent auction will be put up for sale on eBay or possibly given to church bazaars.
Paul Leonard, director of marketing and development, said the nonprofit is focusing more on fundraising. The first one this year was “Pedal for Polly’s,” a bicycle ride in Buchanan Township Oct. 2. The next event is its annual black tie dinner in February.
Polly’s Place recently reopened after it closed due to vandalism of its building and embezzlement by a former employee.
