Penn Friends Community Church finally filled a void it has had for nearly a year.

On Sunday, it will install its new pastor, Greg Compton of Ypsilanti.

Compton, 50, will replace Pastor Steve Witzki, who left in August of 2013.

Before coming to Penn Friends Church, Compton was the associate pastor at Ypsilanti Evangelical Friends Church. He also taught Sunday school and served as Spiritual Life Elder and Outreach Elder.

He is a graduate of Central Michigan University. He earned a master’s degree in elementary education from Eastern Michigan University in 2001.

In 2007, he entered the Pastoral Ministry program at Trinity College and Seminary.

If we can show God’s love, we can do so much to affect our church and community,” Compton said.

He is joined by his wife of 18 years, Dana, and their three children — Bruce, 17; Brendan, 16; and Shelby, 14.
