Freight Hoppers end Wednesday music series

The Freight Hoppers, a legendary old time music band from North Carolina, will be playing the last Wednesday evening concert for the Niles Summer Concert Series at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The concert will be held in the Niles River Front Amphitheater and is open to the public.

The Freight Hoppers is known for its bluegrass and classic country style and for weaving humor throughout the concerts.

The band became widely recognized for its 1996 song “Where’d You Come From, Where’d You Go?” and the success of its 1998 recording “Waitin’ on the Gravy Train.” The band is comprised of David Bass, fiddle; Frank Lee, banjo, vocal; Isaac Deal, guitar, vocal and Bradley Adams, string bass.

“After 13 weeks of music, this is the last Wednesday. It’s great that we have this band,” said Tom Majerek, the Niles Summer Concert Series organizer, who promises the event will be worth attending. “Great music, laughs, can’t beat it for free.”

The band will be providing music for purchase after the concert.
