Niles All-Stars advance to finals

SCHOOLCRAFT – The Niles 13-14 All-Stars advanced to the championship of the District 15 Junior Baseball Division with a 7-5 win over host Schoolcraft/Marcellus Sunday afternoon.

The All-Stars reached the semifinals with a 10-0 win over Three Rivers Saturday. Schoolcraft/Marcellus advanced to the semifinals with a 12-2 victory over Constantine/Centreville.

Niles will face the winner of Monday’s Schoolcraft/Marcellus-Three Rivers game at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Schoolcraft. If a second championship game is needed it will be played Wednesday at 6 p.m. also at Swan Park.

The All-Stars got a double, a home run and a pitching victory from Tyler Phillips against Schoolcraft/Marcellus Sunday.

Gavin Rasler and Jordan McGregor both had two hits for Niles.

Against Three Rivers, Dyllan Houck picked up the victory with relief help from Noah Frantz.

The winner of the District 15 tournament will advance to Sectionals at South Portage Saturday and Sunday (if needed). The state tournament begins in White Lake July 27.
